Positive feedback for EIDO

September 27th, 2011

Over the past three years, EIDO has received hundreds of emails from patients offering their feedback on the INFOrm4U patient information library.  The word cloud below was created from the (nearly) 300 comments collected so far.  The larger the word, the more frequently it appears in the feedback.
With words such as informative, useful, excellent and helpful all featuring prominently, EIDO is pleased that its informed consent library  is not only serving the needs of its hospital customers but, just as importantly, the patients who read it every day.

Patient forum goes LIVE…

July 22nd, 2011

AboutMyHealth.org - Experience. Learn. Share.
AboutMyHealth.org, the hugely successful patient information site, has been revamped and now hosts EIDO’s new patient experience forum Your Journey; so named to capture the three key elements of a patient’s surgical pathway: their experience, what they have learnt from it, and sharing that with others.
Combining the best parts of the existing site with www.patientfeedback.org, patients will be able to get information about conditions, procedures and vetted websites as well as engaging with other patients to share experiences, information and get support about living with a condition or recovering after surgery.
The site also contains the evidence-base behind the INFOrm4U informed [...]

British Association of Day Surgery (BADS) endorses EIDO Healthcare

July 20th, 2011

Statement from the President
“Timely, high quality patient information is fundamental to the quality and safety of modern surgery. By adequately preparing patients and providing them with realistic expectations, there is ample evidence that patients feel better informed and more empowered to play an active role in their recovery. Alerting patients and their carers to key warning signs can also facilitate the early detection of unanticipated complications and is crucial to ensuring safety once the patient has left hospital.
Advances in surgical and anaesthetic techniques, combined with increasing recognition of the hazards associated with excessive hospital dependency, have resulted in the vast [...]

Reducing the risk of venous thromboembolism

May 27th, 2010

With around 25,000 people dying every year as a result of a blood clot, reducing the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) has become a major national priority for the NHS.
EIDO has developed a VTE patient information leaflet to be given to patients as part of their VTE risk assessment. Developed in conjunction with EIDO’s clinical authoring team and the Plain English Campaign, this important new leaflet has only strengthened EIDO’s reputation as the UK de-facto standard for quality patient information.

ASGBI 2010 a Success for EIDO

April 22nd, 2010

EIDO Healthcare enjoyed another outstanding exhibition at ASGBI 2010, with many member surgeons taking up the offer of personalised EIDO leaflets for use in their private practices.  Significant interest came not only from UK surgeons, but also as far overseas as India, France and Kuwait.
The main star of the exhibition, however, was EIDO’s giant Operation game, which proved a hit with both consultants and trainees alike.  After three days of frenzied competition, trainee Caroline Bagley was crowned ‘the fastest surgeon in the West’, and will shortly receive a Nintendo Wii and Wii-Fit.
EIDO looks forward to ASGBI 2011 in Bournemouth!

February 15th, 2010

The EIDO team were pleased to meet former Health Minister Lord Darzi at the 2010 Arab Health Conference.  Lord Darzi, who has pioneered many surgical technologies and techniques, was keen to discuss some of the challenges facing the NHS, including the issue of valid patient consent.  He showed a particular interest in EIDO’s informed consent patient information leaflets, and recommended that it ‘keeps up the good work’.  This is certainly what EIDO intend to do, with now almost 300 leaflets in its patient information library, INFOrm4U.
